Privacy policy
Last updated: June 15, 2026
Sentinel Security is operated by Christ Covenant Church, which provides security operations and coordination services to churches and their security ministries. This policy describes how Christ Covenant Church handles information in the Sentinel Security app, including any SMS text messages it sends.
What we collect
- Application data — everything you submit through the intake form: name, email, phone, date of birth, experience, firearm-related fields (Security track), references, motivation, and agreements.
- Operational data — service sign-ups, role assignments, attendance, swap requests, chat messages, broadcast deliveries, incident reports.
- Security data — email verification tokens, hashed passwords if you set one, device push subscriptions, session cookies.
How we use it
- To schedule you and communicate about services.
- To vet and approve volunteers per the church's onboarding policy (leadership review, interview, firearm qualification, probation, full member).
- To deliver in-app and push notifications you opt into, and email you when it's required (sign-in links, broadcasts).
- To keep compliance records (qualifications, incidents).
Who can see what
- Your contact info is visible to you and to church admins.
- Your application answers, agreement records, and firearm qualification are visible to Church and Church Admins at your church. Campus Leads see members at their own campus.
- Other volunteers see only your name, campus, and whether you're signed up / assigned to a role for a service.
- Chat messages are visible to members of the room you post in (your campus room, or the church-wide broadcast room).
Text messaging (SMS)
If you provide your mobile number and opt in, Christ Covenant Church may send you SMS text messages for scheduling and operational coordination — for example confirming your availability for an upcoming service, day-before and day-of shift reminders, weekly schedules, and urgent team broadcasts.
- Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe, or HELP for help.
- Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase or of participation on the team.
- We do not sell or share your mobile number or SMS opt-in data with any third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Your number is used only to deliver the messages described above.
Who we share with
We don't sell or lease your data. We use these third-party services to operate the app:
- Google Workspace for the security@christcovenant.com email sender (sign-in codes, password resets, team notices).
- Hostinger for hosting and Let's Encrypt for TLS.
- Telnyx as the SMS provider that transmits text messages to your carrier. Telnyx processes your mobile number solely to deliver these messages on our behalf; it does not use it for any other purpose.
- Web Pushservices (Apple, Google, Mozilla) for notification delivery when you've enabled push.
Retention
Member data is kept for as long as you're on the team and for a reasonable period afterward for church record-keeping. You can ask your church admin to remove your data at any time; we'll keep what we must to honor our commitments to the church.
Your choices
- Turn push notifications on or off from your profile.
- Reply STOP to any text message to opt out of SMS, or ask your campus lead to remove your number.
- Set or remove a password from your profile.
- Edit your contact info directly on your profile.
- For anything else (corrections, removal), email security@christcovenant.com.
Security
Sessions are HTTPS-only. Passwords, when set, are stored with bcrypt. Our database is on a private network accessible only via Tailscale; nightly backups are encrypted and kept for 7 days.
